ICEL 2000 - The Virtual Record

The biennial gathering of the International Consortium for Experiential Learning for the year 2000 was held in Auckland New Zealand, facilitated by the James Henare Maori Research Centre at the University of Auckland and supported by the Auckland University of Technology. The refereed papers from the conference were published in two volumes under the title of Te Rito o te Matauranga - Experiential Learning for the Third Millenium.

This web site was set up in preparation for ICEL 2000, and has been maintained as a record of the event, and also a point of access to some of the ideas and material presented at the conference or produced later as a result of it.

The ICEL 2000 web site was hosted originally by Edesignz Ltd, its designers and developers, and then incorporated in the James Henare Maori Research Centre's site. When the JHMRC went into recess in 2004, its site was taken out of the web, and the ICEL 2000 pages were orphaned and homeless for a few months.

This site was then adopted by some of its original developers, and now [2025] hosted on a new website, with support from Te Māra Reo. The links to material about ICEL as an organization and previous and subsequent conferences no longer work, as the organizationd hosting them have changed or discontinued their ICEL-related sites; only the Aotearoa / New Zealand material remains intact. We hope that nevertheless the dynamism that characterized ICEL 2000 will continued to be reflected in this site.
